- Each measures approx. 8" diameter
- I have seen these plates sell for $165 PER PLATE on high end resale websites.
- Plates are handmade and the color and sheen vary slightly from plate to plate - this is the beauty and quality of these plates.
- The stamps vary from plate to plate:
- “Wedgwood Made in England 1T36” (signifies made in January 1936)
- “Wedgwood Made in England 11T36” (signifies made in November 1936)
- “Wedgwood Made in England 10T36” (signifies made in October 1936)
- “Wedgwood Made in England 0T36” (likely this was another plate made in October 1936 and the 1 didn’t make it onto the plate)
- “Wedgwood Made in England” (no month/ year date marking, so likely slightly older than the other 4 plates)
- All have 3 firing marks on the backs, these are not flaws and are essential to the ceramic firing process.
- CONDITION NOTES: 2 plates each have a tan mark on the front of the plate where it looks like the earthenware is showing through under the glaze; one of them is tiny, about the size of a sesame seed; the mark on the other plate is about the length of a grain of white rice. Please review the close-up photos, zoom in and contact me with any questions. Otherwise, crazing and light wear from age and use.
- If you are trying to match plates to an existing Wedgwood collection: Please keep in mind that these plates come in an array of shades of green - it totally depends on the month and year in which they were made. I personally collect and sell these, and have observed over the years that the greens can range from dark to mid to lighter - some have more color pooling than others, some have an iridescent quality to the glaze. This is the beauty of a truly handmade product that is like a work of art. If you are particular about color matching, these may not be best suited for you.
